This black commemorative plaque records: Near this spot on the north side of the great church was laid the body of Brian Boroimhe slain at Clontarf A.D. MXIV
Brian Boru was an Irish king who significantly impacted medieval Ireland by becoming the first High King to unite the island; he is remembered for his death during the Battle of Clontarf in 1014 while defending against Viking invaders.
