Boulder clay, or till, is a glacial deposit formed during the last Ice Age, roughly 11,700 to 26,000 years ago, by the direct action of ice sheets grinding and transporting rock debris. The cliff at Bachwen is notable as a remnant of the Welsh Ice Cap, illustrating the extent of glaciation in north Wales and the power of glacial erosion and deposition.
