Booley hut in Bunnamohaun stands on the lower SW slopes of Knockmore, one of eight paired shelters clustered around a small stream basin locally called Prawke. Tradition links the huts to booleying, a seasonal way of life where people followed grass and weather rather than owning one fixed field. The shallow hollow, stone rim and possible wall lines suggest a temporary home made serious enough to mark the earth.
This is one of eight huts (MA084-004001- to MA084-004008-) ranged in a cluster around the N and NE sides of a small natural basin or fold, through which a stream flows, on the lower SW slopes of Knockmore. A notable feature of this cluster is that the huts tend to occur in pairs. The location is locally named ‘Prawke’, and, according to tradition, the huts were associated with booleying. This hut lies 2m SSE of another hut (MA084-004001-) on the crest of the slope overlooking the bottom of the basin. It comprises a small shallow hut hollow (D 0.25m), roughly square in plan (N–S 2.4m, E–W 2.1m), defined around its rim by small stones. On the western side and part of the south- ern side single lines of stones (Wth 0.9m × H 0.2m) protrude from the sod, possibly indicating wall lines. There is also a large stone (L 0.5m × Wth 0.4m) at SW corner.
