Blue Anchor, Hammersmith blue plaque

Blue plaque

What is recorded here

This blue commemorative plaque records: Licenced June 9th 1722 George Ist was King of England and Louis XV was on the throne of France when we were granted our licence. Records show "the blew anchor" had been selling beer for many decades before that. When we celebrated our first 50 years as a licensed pub the American Declaration of Independence had yet to be signed. Captain Cook had only just found his way to Australia and the french revolution was still some twenty years away! Welcome to one of the oldest pubs in London Recorded plaque organisation: The Blue Anchor Pub.
The Blue Anchor, licensed since June 9th, 1722, is one of the oldest pubs in London, predating significant historical events such as the American Declaration of Independence and the French Revolution. Its long-standing presence reflects the enduring role of public houses in British social history.

A plaque record does not grant entry to a building or private land. View it from a public place unless permission is clearly given.
