Freestanding icehouse, built c.1880, now disused. Red brick vaulted roof. Rubble stone walls with plinth. Pointed arch door opening with rubble stone surround, red brick voussoirs and recent wrought-iron gate. Door arch surmounted by terracotta griffin. Red brick lined to interior. Entrance flanked by rubble stone walls.

Icehouses were built on to facilitate the preservation of food, and the brick lining was designed to enhance the cooling qualities of this underground store. It is an interesting reminder of the ingenuity and labour that was required for food preservation in the past. Together with the other demesne related structures, including gate lodges, farmyard complex and lime kiln, it serves as a reminder of the wealth and prosperity of the demesne in the past.
