Beltany Stone Circle

Sixty-four stones still stand on Beltany Hill, though more than eighty may have marked the circle when hands first lifted them. The name carries Beltaine, the bright fire festival, and the summit catches summer light as if remembering the reason it was named. Locals once claimed buried graves beneath the raised earth, and an Iron Age stone head surfaced nearby, hinting that this was a place where the living honored what had departed.
