Beinn-ri-Oitir rises to approximately 500 metres and is part of the rugged landscape of the Outer Hebrides. Its name, meaning "Mountain of the Otters," reflects local Gaelic folklore or historical animal presence. It matters as a geographic and cultural landmark in Na h-Eileanan Siar.
