Bawn in Scregg is a rectangular grassy enclosure on a rocky ridge in County Roscommon, sitting immediately south of a tower house. Earthen banks and broken walls still mark its edges, suggesting a controlled yard where people moved goods, kept animals or performed daily work beside the residence. The flat green space contrasts with the rough rock around it, inviting imagination about the footsteps, voices and routines that once filled it.

Situated on a rock outcrop pinnacle at the N end of a NW-SE ridge, and immediately S of tower house (RO042-147001-). Rectangular grass-covered area (dims c. 15m N-S; 15m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.2m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.5m) and outer fosse (Wth of base 1.2m; D 0.6m) at S, and the remains of walls (Wth 1-1.2m) at E and W. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
