Bawn in Rathpatrick is a buried courtyard beside Castle Pierce, where a square forestry gap marks the lost fortress in County Kilkenny. The Down survey identified Peter Archdeacon as proprietor before the 1641 Rising, and Carrigan claimed part of the wall remained visible until 1855. The bawn has vanished from ground level, leaving only trees, boggy pasture and the memory of a castle that once stood at the edge of rough land.

On the edge of low-lying, boggy, rough pasture with rock outcrop. The bawn is associated with a fortified house (KK007-001001-) known as 'Castle Pierce'. The area has been planted with forestry with a roughly square buffer zone (dims. c. 65m²) around the castle. In the 17th century this townland was part of Bruckana (called Brickanagh) townland. The Down survey map of Eirke parish shows a castle annotated 'decayed' in Brickanagh with Peter Archdeacon (aka Pierce Cody), Irish papist, listed as the proprietor before the 1641 Rising. The accompanying terrier also mentions a bawn. According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 284), 'Part of the courtyard wall remained down to 1855'. The bawn is not visible at ground level.
