Mnemo knows the following about Bawn in Grenan: It is a bawn in Grenan, County Kilkenny. A bawn is a fortified enclosure, often rectangular, with thick walls and a narrow gate. It may have housed a family, stored grain, or sheltered people when roads became dangerous. Little public detail is missing, but the shape and name preserve the fact that this was a defended local centre.
