Rickard Bourck held a quarter of the ruinous Cloonkerry castle and bawn when the 1635 Strafford Inquisition recorded the place. The exact spot has vanished from local memory, but the written claim preserves the shape of a lost residence.

This bawn, with its associated castle (MA110-066----) is listed in the 1635 Strafford Inquisition of Co. Mayo: 'Rickard Bourck -1 cartron and ¼ part of a ruineous castle and bawn in the qr of Clonekerry.' (O' Sullivan 1958, 57). Its exact location in the townland is unknown.
