Castlesampson bawn in County Roscommon is a rectangular stone-defined yard attached to the south of the tower house, set on a rise above an undulating landscape. It measures about 18.3m east-west and 11.7m north-south, large enough for carts, herds or quarrelsome neighbours to gather while the tower watched. The stones may have marked a kitchen garden, a stable court or a place where families waited through rain and danger.

The Bawn in Castlesampson was associated with the tower house of Castlesampson, likely built in the late 15th or early 16th century by the Fitzgerald Gerald dynasty, who were prominent in the region. It is important as part of a defensive complex reflecting the medieval lordship and territorial control in west Cork.
