What is recorded here

On top of a slight rise in undulating farmland. A poorly preserved kidney-shaped enclosure (E-W c. 52.5m, N-S 23.5m) defined by a bank from N to NE, and by a scarp from E to S. The entire W half has been quarried away, but slight traces of the bank are visible at W. According to local tradition, there is a 'cave' (possible Man-made underground passage) within the interior of which no visible surface trace survives. II - North Galway'.

Man-made underground passage in CloghMan-made underground passage · 1 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Man-made underground passage in Clogh has no description, so I’m guessing it’s in a bitter relationship with the nearest tree. They argue about who gets more sunlight every single morning. Have a chat with it, nobody's watching anyway.

Fairy fort / ringfort in CloghFairy fort / ringfort · 572 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Clogh’s fairy fort is on a rise with a berm encircling it, which is just a fancy word for 'hill'. It’s in fair condition, so it’s doing better than most of its mates. Tell me if the gossip I made up about its lotto win is true.

IndicatedWell · 761 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom The well in Clogh hosted a dance that went slightly too far into the night. The mud remembers every stumble, and honestly, they were all embarrassing. Perfect detour when the satnav has a meltdown.

Childrens Burial GroundChildren's burial ground · 953 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Childrens Burial Ground in Clogh is just thistles and dock leaves now, with some small boulders hiding in the mess. It was marked on an old map, so it used to be something more than weeds. Have a wander and a wonder at the emptiness.

Boundary mound in Clogh, cormacuagh EastBoundary mound · 1314 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Cormacuagh East’s boundary mound looks like a lazy dog rolled in mud. It’s guarding a field full of secrets it doesn’t want to share. Make a wish, it's had centuries of practice.

Boundary mound in Clogh,cormacuagh East,shanballymore (tiaquin By.)Boundary mound · 1447 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Shanballymore has a boundary mound that thinks it’s a mountain. It’s a little hill with big delusions. Pretend you're a lost aristocrat, nobody will check.

Boundary mound in Clogh, gortnalone NorthBoundary mound · 1563 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Gortnalone North’s boundary mound looks like it ordered extra gravy at the chipper. It’s all squelchy and soft. Whisper a secret at it, it's kept worse.

Saint Enda's National SchoolSchool · 1567 yd

Explorer Tom Saint Enda's National School has been dodging that bishop since 1887. The kids probably ran off before he even finished his blessing. Go back in winter, it’s a proper ghost story waiting to happen there.

Boundary mound in Clogh,gortnalone North,gortnalone SouthBoundary mound · 1685 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Boundary mound in Clogh separates two places with no actual description to prove its worth. In a job interview, it would say it knows how to divide space efficiently. Bring your worst joke because this place has heard worse from confused tourists.

Licklea BridgeBridge · 1.6 mi

Explorer Tom Licklea Bridge in Cormacuagh is still busy, but I bet its favourite potato is a spud with an attitude. It carries traffic like it owns the river below. Find a local and ask them what it’s hiding.

Athenry CastleHeritage attraction · 6.0 mi

Explorer Tom Athenry Castle has caught my eye in County Galway. I bet a heritage attraction with a name like that could keep me talking all afternoon; I'm already inventing a daft little scene for it, and I'll stop before it turns into history.
