What is recorded here

Battle of the Erne Fords, 1593, raged where the river ran shallow enough to charge across. Men waded into cold water and killed each other within moments, turning a ford into a graveyard. The site in Finner still holds that violence beneath grass and silence.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as BATTLE SITE 1587 & 1593: BATTLE of the ERNE FORDS, 1593. Recorded period: C16TH; POST-MED. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
