Battle of Maserfield is a major battle site with a checked map point.
Penda of Mercia defeated an Anglo-Saxon force led by King Oswiu of Northumbria at the Battle of Maserfield in 655 CE. The battle was a significant Mercian victory that temporarily halted Northumbrian dominance in the region.
