The Battle of Largs was fought in 1263 between the forces of Haakon IV of Norway and a Scottish army led by Walter FitzGilbert, Lord of Largs. The Scottish victory weakened Norwegian influence in the Hebrides, contributing to Scotland's eventual control over the western isles.
