On 10 October 1593, Hugh Maguire's Gaelic Irish army clashed with Sir Henry Bagenal's English force near the River Erne in Fermanagh. Maguire committed roughly six hundred to nine hundred fighters against Bagenal's larger column of about twelve hundred men. The English won, but Maguire lost only about three hundred and kept enough strength to continue resisting. The battle sharpened the edge of the coming Nine Years' War rather than cutting it short.
Battle of Belleek is a battle in County Donegal, Ireland.
