Batavia I was a 17th-century East Indiaman that was shipwrecked off the coast of Western Australia in 1629, resulting in the deaths of over 100 crew and passengers. The wreck is historically significant as it led to the establishment of a settlement in the region and is one of the most important early European shipwrecks in Australian history.
