A bastioned fort in Bawndaw, Gracedieu East and West, is likely an early-medieval ringfort, possibly later modified or described in a 17th-century context. Local tradition and historical references suggest a long-standing settlement or defensive site, with a 1601 will signed at Gracedieu Castle indicating continued habitation or significance into the early modern period.
