The Poet basil Bunting gave his first public reading of his major work "Briggflatts" at Morden Tower on 22nd December 1965. Basil Bunting was a significant British poet associated with the Objectivist school; he is remembered for his long poem "Briggflatts," which he first read publicly at Morden Tower in 1965.
