In Milltown, County Carlow, a buried ring-barrow still holds burnt clay and charcoal from an ancient fire, though soil stripping destroyed its visible shape. The 1908 map captured a small circle that ploughing later erased, turning the drawing into the last clear picture of the monument. Under ordinary farmland, the barrow continues as a hidden marker of the people who shaped that land long before written memory.
