Barrow

This potential feature was reported by Michael Connolly, County Archaeologist, Kerry County Council. It was identified by him during the course of an assessment of a 40 square mile area for the purpose of choosing a road route in 2000 to the north of Killarney. In level, impenetrable coniferous plantation, at base of a steep N-facing slope; Gweestin River to N. Access not gained. Reported to the Archaeological Survey of Ireland as the cropmark of a barrow. No potential feature evident at this location upon historic mapping. This area is obscured by forestry upon modern aerial photography indicating that the area of the potential feature may have been planted (OSi 2010; Bing 2015).
