Barrow

In wet, level pasture, with excellent views of Knockseefin to WNW and 45m NW of a townland boundary with Ballyhurst. A cluster of six possible barrows (LI024-049002-/007-), with enclosure (LI024-049001-) in centre of field. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Identified by Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 90.02; AP 4/3678) as a ring-barrow. No surface remains visible on OSi orthophoto taken between 2005-12 or on Google Earth orthoimage dated 18/11/2018. A Neolithic barrow; part of a cluster with a central enclosure, likely dating to the early to middle Neolithic period (c. 4000–3000 BCE). Its location and association with other barrows suggest it may be part of a ceremonial or funerary landscape.
