Hawthorn and bramble still strangle the seven-metre circle, hiding the fort or barrow that Barrow people may have built, buried, or forgotten before the 1837 survey. The name is small enough to fit in a child's hand, yet it points to a place where human hands shaped earth and later stopped answering. What is known is that the circle exists, resists measurement, and waits inside living wood.
