Barrow

In wet, level pasture, with excellent views of Knockseefin/Pallashill to WNW. Not depicted on OS historic mapping (O'Dwyer 1964, 98). Surveyed by the ASI in 2008 and described as a low profile semi-circular-shaped area (4.7m E-W; 3m N-S) defined by a scarp (H 0.15m) at N, truncated by a drain and wide earthen field boundary running E-W across the S half with fosse (Wth 2.95m; D 0.15m) and an external bank (int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.15m; Wth 2.55m) visible from NE-E. A barrow (LI024-053001-) lies c. 50m to SSW and a ring-barrow (LI024-053002-) lies c. 80m to SE. A high concentration of barrows are located within a 300m radius of this monument. Monument is not readily visible on Digital Globe orthophotos taken 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages taken 28/06/2018. See attached plan and cross-sections surveyed and drawn by the ASI.
