Barrow

On the summit of Kiltullagh Hill, just 5m NE of standing stone (RO032-001001-). Subcircular grass-covered area (int. dims 2.9m N-S; 2.3m E-W) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2.8-3.7m; int. H 0.1m at N to 0.4m at W; ext. H 0.2m generally to 0.5m at N) with some inner facing-stones, which is quarried at E. Excavation (96E0179) revealed an outer fosse (max. ext. diam. 11m) with a cremation while the central pit was disturbed by robbing, but the mound had contained inhumations (RO031-001004-) (Coombs and Maude 1997). There was a second barrow (RO032-001003-) described by Knox (1914a, 45-6, Ring 2), whose location is uncertain but which lay to the W and might have been in Co. Mayo.
