Barrow rises at the summit of a WNW-ESE ridge in County Roscommon, a circular grass mound set upon a broader platform and enclosed by a rectangular earthen bank. Knox wrote in 1911 that a standing stone once marked its centre, though no stone remains visible today. The mound may have served as a burial place or boundary marker for people who lived along the ridge, but that purpose has faded with the stone and much of the shape has blurred into grass and scrub.

At the summit of a WNW-ESE ridge. Described as a rectangular mound (dims of top c. 4.2m x 4.2m; dims of base c. 6.5m x c. 6.5m; H c. 0.9m) within a rectangular enclosure (dims c. 16m x 16m) defined by fosse (Wth c. 1m; D c. 0.0.7m) and an outer earthen bank (Wth c. 1.8m) which is reputed to have had a standing stone (RO034-018002-) on the central mound (Knox 1911, 339-340). This is a circular grass-covered and flat-topped mound (diam. of top 4.8m NW-SE; diam. of base 7.1m NW-SE; H 0.8-0.9m) on top of a broader circular platform (diam. of top 14.8m NW-SE; diam. of base 19m NW-SE; H 0.7-0.85m). It is enclosed in a rectangular, scrub-covered area (dims c. 25m NW-SE; c. 25m NE-SW) defined by a flat-topped earthen field bank (Wth of top 1.4m; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.6m).
