Barrow

On reclaimed pasture with Glenatrahaun Stream 70m to SE forming the townland boundary with Coologe. The monument forms part of a group of five ring-barrows (LI024-322/-225----) and a ditch-barrow (LI024-070----) within 110m to the N and NE. The ring-barrow is not depicted on historic OSi maps, but it is visible on OSi orthoimages taken 2005-12 or on Digital Globe orthoimages taken 2011-2013. Identified by Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 30; AP 4/3668) as a circular ring-barrow (ext. diam. c. 11.5m N-S; 10.5m E-W) and consists of a central circular area surrounded by a fosse. Ring-barrow, dating to the Early Bronze Age (c. 2000–1500 BCE). It is part of a significant burial cluster, indicating a ceremonial or funerary landscape used during the Bronze Age.
