Barrow

In reclaimed pasture 20m N of a Stream that marks the townland boundary with Fantstown. One of six possible barrows (LI048-085/090----) concentrated in an area measuring 175m X 100m in the S quadrant of the townland. Not depicted on OSi historic 6-inch maps. Identified as a possible barrow on oblique aerial photograph (ASIAP) taken on 05/01/2003. No surface remains visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13. Monument is visible as a circular cropmark on Google Earth orthoimage dated 05/04/2006. No surface remains visible on Google Earth orthoimage dated 01/04/2021. See attached Google Earth orthoimages. Ditch barrow, likely dating to the Early Bronze Age (c. 2000–1500 BCE). It is part of a small barrow group, suggesting a ritual or funerary landscape of regional significance.
