What is recorded here
Barnaghidden BGd for Children is a hidden burial ground in West Cork, marked only for young lives lost before the land was divided. The children may have played beside that pasture, trusting the adults who watched them, while the ground kept what those adults could not carry home. Forgetting the names does not empty the field; it returns the children to the risk of never having existed at all.
In pasture. No visible surface trace.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
