What is recorded here

A named place photographed at this map point in Bath and North East Somerset.
Roughly 150 meters in height, Lye Hill is part of the limestone escarpment that forms the northern edge of the Mendip Hills. Its name may derive from the presence of lime trees or the limy soil, and while not prominent in folklore, it offers panoramic views that have historically aided navigation in the region.
