What is recorded here
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Balnaboth Chapel as Chapel (17th Century) (1693). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Balnaboth Chapel, located in the Highlands of Scotland, is traditionally associated with Saint Bothan, a 6th-century Irish monk and missionary. The chapel and surrounding site were once linked to healing rituals and pilgrimages, with local folklore suggesting that Saint Bothan founded a monastic settlement in the area, and his name is connected to the nearby Bothy Hill and the River Bothy.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
