Ballynarooga Castle belonged to the mac Shihie clan before Sir H Bronker received it in 1604, yet even its ruin had vanished by 1840. The south-facing slope now holds only a farmyard dump, stripping the site of every stone, shadow or boundary that once marked it. What remained was a name, a grant and a forgotten shape, buried beneath ordinary use.

In pasture, on slight S-facing slope. No extant trace visible today; area of site now used as farmyard dump. Described as 'the ruin of an old castle' in 1840 (OSNB No , 192). Held by the MacShihie clan in the late 16th century, Ballynarooga Castle is remembered as a minor but locally significant defensive structure in a period of clan conflict and English expansion in Ireland.
