Mortons and Ballynacreggan Fort stands as a fairy fort in County Clare, an earthen ring where human history thins into legend. Its buried chambers and hidden doors belong to the fairies, not people, yet the boundary between the two has always been porous. What looks like abandonment may be occupation under different rules, visible only when attention sharpens or memory loosens its grip.

Ballynacreggan Fort, Ballyveskil is a ringfort, a type of early-medieval agricultural and defensive settlement, typically dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. Local folklore often associates such sites with the "fairy folk," and they were sometimes avoided due to beliefs in their supernatural inhabitants.
