Mortons has stared into that void since before human memory. The chamber holds no walls, only depth, and the whole fortress exists to keep the girl alive inside it. Every chamber, chamber within a chamber, every room and closet and hidden door in the world is one assertion repeated until it becomes a living thing: she is real, she is wanted, she must not be lost.

Internal diam. 37m. A subcircular area enclosed by a low earthen bank, a fosse and an outer bank of which only the S section survives well.
