Ballydermot Earthen Ringfort

Internal diam. 20m. A circular area enclosed by an earthen bank formed from scarping the hillside. This gives the otherwise low bank a steep appearance. A modern fence divides the site. It is situated on the crest of a steep hill with good views. The land on the hill is good but the valleys around it are wet and marshy. Local folklore, common to many such sites, associates it with the supernatural, possibly as a dwelling place of fairies or ancient spirits.
