In pasture, on S-facing slope of low hillock. Spectacular views of Galtee Mountains to S. Roughly semi-circular area (diam. 30-35m) defined from N-E-SSW by what appears to be an earthen bank with some stone facing visible at SSW. Field boundary (long-axis c. N-S) truncates W half of monument. Access to interior was not gained due to dense vegetation of mature trees, bushes and undergrowth. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011

Ballagh Fort is a likely early-medieval ringfort, characterized by a semi-circular earthen bank with some stone facing, situated on a south-facing slope with views of the Galtee Mountains. Local tradition may associate such sites with fairy lore, as many Irish raths are believed to be the homes of the "good people."

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
