Bàigh na Dubh-Àirde

Bàigh na Dubh-Àirde is a coastal bay featuring sea cliffs composed primarily of basalt, formed during the Palaeogene period (approximately 60–55 million years ago) as a result of volcanic activity associated with the opening of the North Atlantic. The area is notable for its dramatic coastal scenery and the presence of columnar jointing, a common feature in ancient lava flows.
