Athgoe Castle

Ruins

What is recorded here

Athgoe Castle preserves a detached five-bay country house from about 1800 beside the substantial ruins of a Medieval tower house once belonging to the Locke family. The grand house keeps its floating pediments, timber sash windows and decorative radial fanlight, while the older castle gives up only shape and shadow. They stand together in County Dublin, one polished for human comfort and the other worn into mystery.
Athgoe Castle is recorded as a ruins in County Dublin. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
