Explorer TomArniston Public Park in Gorebridge has a name grand enough for a ceremonial entrance, but its main business is much better: children at play, football boots on turf and neighbours getting outdoor breathing room. Find it off Dundas Gardens and let the grand procession be whoever races you to the play area first.
Midlothian Council lists the place as Arniston Park, with a children's play area and an artificial grass sports pitch. It is the community park of Gorebridge and Arniston, rather than the separate Arniston Vale Play Area farther along the council's list. The all-weather pitch has served Arniston Rangers Youth Football Club, a useful reminder that a park can be the headquarters for small ambitions without a marble plaque for each.
The park is publicly listed and council maintained. Its nearest postcode is EH23 4BB; use the council's Dundas Gardens address rather than searching for an estate house with the same first name. The play space and grass give families different ways to spend time, while organised use of the pitch should be checked with the council or club rather than assumed open for casual games. The council's park listing does not promise toilets, a cafe or particular opening hours, so pack for an ordinary outdoor visit.
There is a lovely practical history here too: a publicly available emergency heart device was installed at the football pitch in 2020, thanks to a local partnership. I hope nobody ever needs it, but it says plenty about a place when the grown-ups have thought beyond the next match. Arrive for a simple walk or a noisy game; Arniston's best monument is somebody calling for the ball.
