Armorial plaque (present location) in Knocktophermanor

Armorial plaque (present location)

What is recorded here

Knocktophermanor holds one of two Ormond plaques rescued from Garrison Castle and set into the north wall of St. David's Graveyard. The Latin inscription still faces the street like a challenge forgotten by everyone except the stones. A hammer, a cart and a choice to keep rather than bury turned a castle badge into a graveyard marker. That much is known; the rest belongs to the people who stopped looking and started living beside it.
One of two armorial plaques, originally from 'Garrison Castle' (KK031-017002-), inserted in the external face of the north wall of St. David's Graveyard (KK031-017006-) and bearing the Ormond coat of arms with a Latin inscription.
