What is recorded here

Two rectangular limestone plaques, carved in false relief with achievements of arms, date to the mid-sixteenth century and were taken from the gate piers of Fort Castle. One sits in the Library while the other occupies the Castlebarnagh golf course clubhouse, pulled from their original guardianship to become passive fixtures in ordinary rooms. They still display the same proud symbols, stripped of the castle wall that once framed them but unchanged in the language of power they speak.
