What is recorded here

Arms of Naper and Barnwell still hover above the south transept window at Loughcrew, probably carried there after the Plunkett lands changed hands in the 1650s. The plaque may have left another building entirely, arriving as a trophy, a gift or a quiet act of erasure. Whoever set it into the church wall believed those marks should be seen every time light crossed the stone.

An armorial crest is inserted over the S window of the transept of Lough Crew church (ME015-027----) under a square hood-moulding. This may have come from another site as the complicated crest includes bearings of the Naper family, who were awarded the Plunkett lands in the 1650s, and what may be Barnwell.
