Ardnamurchan Point

Ardnamurchan Point is a headland composed mainly of basaltic lava flows and dykes, formed during the Palaeogene period, approximately 60 to 55 million years ago, as part of the North Atlantic Igneous Province. It is notable for its well-preserved volcanic structures and the presence of the Ardnamurchan Central Complex, which provides important insights into the early stages of the opening of the North Atlantic Ocean.
