Architectural fragment in Clonroad Beg

Barrett’s Lane and Harvey’s Quay still hold a pair of late medieval door hanging eyes set inside one arch. They mark the exact place where a heavy door once swung, likely lifting and dropping through Ennis traffic for generations before the building changed or vanished. The eyes remain sharp and functional in memory even when the door is gone, inviting imagination about the chamber, workshop or home they guarded.
