Owney Cistercian abbey lost a chamber, but its roll and frontal fillet moulding survived in Abington graveyard. The 13th century stone lies in the SW quadrant like a sentence broken from a larger prayer. Monks may have shaped it for light, ritual or ordinary labour before the abbey faded; whoever laid it among the graves turned architecture into memory.
