This blue commemorative plaque records: Archie White V.C. 1890-1971 Here stood the tailor's shop owned by the family of Capt. Archie Cecil Thomas White VC, MC of Boroughbridge and of the 6th. Batt. The Yorkshire Regiment who in 1916 won the Victoria Cross for his conspicuous bravery on the Western Front.
Capt Archie White VC MC was a British Army officer who received the Victoria Cross for his acts of extreme bravery during World War I on the Western Front, specifically for rescuing wounded soldiers under heavy fire. His actions exemplify the valor and sacrifice of soldiers in WWI.
