Antonine Wall, Rough Castle

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Antonine Wall, Rough Castle as Frontier Defence (roman). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The Antonine Wall at Rough Castle was built by the Romans in the 2nd century AD, during the reign of Emperor Antoninus Pius, as a northern frontier defense system. It is important as a key component of Roman Britain's military infrastructure and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
