What is recorded here
Glenfield North once held a stone circle on Mr Cronin's land, but the stones vanished before Bowman recorded the empty ground in 1934. The exact spot has been lost, leaving behind a phantom circle that defies mapping and memory.
Bowman (1934, 620) records 'stone circle' on Mr Cronin's land; stones had been removed some years before his visit. Exact location not known.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
