Aldworth Bridge

Road bridge (Wth 7.58m; long axis E-W) over River Dalua, c. 1.5km WNW of Newmarket. Coursed ashlar limestone construction. Wide elliptical arch (span c. 8-10m), projecting course over the arch ring; linear band course above arch. Thick piered abutments at either end of parapet wall, overhanging limestone coping atop parapet wall. Plaque on external S parapet wall reads 'G IV R Aldworth Bridge Richard Griffith Engineer 1826'- (final digit unclear, could be 5).
